As many in the community know, Flagg passed away around 23:10 on 10/06/2009 due to complications after a double organ transplant. All of us here in his pack are devastated by his loss and I am sure each of us will, in their own spaces, comment upon his passing as we feel the need.
While in recent years Flagg’s illness and other projects we were all involved in had taken time away from our work here at The Estate we all believed we would get back to it someday. We could see the results of the seeds we had planted as they shaped the discourse and community of BDSM, we were waiting for the time to be right to return in this form…
Obviously, our timing was off.
What will happen with The Estate is something we are unsure of at this time. I do know that this event has brought home to us how important the concepts we forged in our founding are. They are even now guiding our actions as we make our choices in the wake of this loss.
For now, it will remain as it was – with its large gaps of time broken by the still relevant and insightful writings of our fallen comrade within it.
Many have asked us if they can donate in his memory, and we have made available the means to do so. It is by no means required and rest assured no one will be out on the street if you do not do so.
Thank you for your support over the years… watch this space.

Over the next little while we will be re-formatting some of the older articles here on The Estate. First to get the treatment was The East Wing Perspective on Protocols in the Estate: What and Why.
Enjoy!

Whiel approving comments I came across a link to Flagg’s discussion of protocol from a French website. Thanks to online translation, I can even read it!
Things have been quite on this site – yet obviously SirC, Flagg and I have been busy and active in the community. This seems to be confusing some people. Because we are so visible and active we find that folks get confused at how rarely this website is updated. The reasons are simple… we have been very busy on projects tangential to but supportive of The Estate. The Estate has always been a tool, and at the moment we are using other tools.
Personally, I am proud that our body of work here on this site, along with our in person teaching and presentations, have stood the test of time. When we add an article or other media (hint for the future) here, it is able to stand alongside that content.
When Flagg, SirC or I do something individually or any two of us get together to work on something we tend not to call it an "Estate" project. The brand of The Estate carries a tone and unity that we are careful to preserve. It has taken us nearly a decade to build the trust that exists in The Estate, we will always respect that.
So relax and enjoy seeing us in the other things we are doing at the moment. You will find that we are continuing to teach, discuss and expand on the ideas at the core of The Estate as we fertilize the ground for some Estate projects we have up our sleeves. The time isn’t quite right yet, but we are working on it.
That all being said, watch this space!

The Estate is currently basically dormant while Flagg recovers from a temporary illness and SirC learns a trade that involves (and I am not kidding) running her hands all over the seriously wounded flesh of strangers.
There is a lot going on with us though and there are a lot of ways to keep up with it.
- Power In Practice is a BDSM oriented podcast that Flagg and I and Daddy David have been doing at intervals.
- Flagg can be kept up with on his LiveJournal even as you read this!
- I (Soulhuntre) have been blogging lots at various places. Check my main blog and also Herdwatching, which is my social commentary blog.
- SirC does not blog.
Flagg will be back in action fairly soon and by the end of this year I have some plans for in person teaching seminars I might be able to talk him into as well as a non-Estate but related series of podcasts on service topics.
Stay tuned!
